South Sudan has emerged out of a long standing conflict and is heading to a new democracy with challenges still ahead. The population is still bleeding from the wounds of many years of carnage. Laying a foundation for a transition to proper democracy needs awareness and understanding of the processes of democracy and the values and rights that come with democracy.
Our organization will start electoral education from primary school level to high school to build and strenghten the minds of young people about the values of dempcracy and how it is practiced. We will do this through simulation where children and youths organise elections in schools and go through all the processes involved in elections.
The project will also organize a set of capacity-building programs for women through electoral education networks and build partnerships with these networks to sustain political awareness at the grassroots and mainstream women`s participation in peace-building operations, including holding of free and fair elections and women exercising their full voting rights.
